You never forget your first platypus sighting — that magical moment when this curious creature surfaces from the water.

Unfortunately our platypus populations are declining and we don't know much about where or how big their numbers are.

Your efforts can help fill the data gap and ensure we know how best to protect our platypus.

Join RiverConnect at the Shepparton Library to learn how to spot a platypus and contribute to citizen science research across Australia.

Note: event will include a short 5-minute walk over to the river before sunset

RiverConnect

We acknowledge the people and clans of the Yorta Yorta Nation as the traditional owners of the area now called Greater Shepparton.

We recognise the deep connections they have with water, land, air and sky, and value partnerships with them for the health of people and Country.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present and acknowledge the primacy of Traditional Owners’ obligations, rights and responsibilities to use and care for their traditional lands and waters.
